Some of my Art

I'm waiting for paint to dry, so I thought I'd come amuse you with a few of my drawings. When

my oldest son was a baby, I decorated his nursery in Sesame Street! I even painted Grover on

the back of his door. I also did 2 drawings to eventually frame. I used a pencil to draw them, and

then went over my lines with a permanent marker. I used crayons to color it! Pretty good for

crayons huh! We won't talk about how many red crayons I used to do Elmo!I did the following picture when I was in labor with my oldest. Yes, I did say when I was in labor.

I didn't use pain killers, instead I sat at my Mother's table, vigorously coloring with my colored

pencils. It started out as a project for school, first time I had every really used colored pencils. I

had found a picture of a water color painting in a magazine, and used it to do this picture. I'll

never forget sitting at that table ALL night long.....coloring!!

***Ok, I warned you....I don't want to get any nasty comments about how you were sitting here, showing your childern pictures of dollhouses, when all of a sudden you stumbled upon some naked ladies. This is MY art......and I'm very proud of it. One day, hopefully I can donate the images to some kind of health awareness program.

I have drawn several of these. There's the pink one, a blue one and an orange on. I love how her back slopes down!

My ex-husband used to get so mad at me when he sit down to look at his girly magazines, and he would realize that the good pictures had the good parts cut out....hehehe.....hey, I need to be able to have the pitures so I had something to go by!! HAHAHAHA!!
OK, I know this is a bit much, but honestly, I know all us girls out there, with a little less than others, have not, at one point or another, wondered what what it be like if???
I have 2 of these girls framed in my bedroom. One day I'll have to come back with pictures of them for you to see.

*Oh, you know, maybe I need to shrink all these pictures and do a mini art gallery....what do you think?? I would diffently have to find some statues to go with them, huh!

In the land of the front porch...

I love weekends! It's a time where the kids
come together, and let their imaginations go wild.
I kept all my Barbies when I was a kid, and gave them to my daughter years ago.
So she has hers, mine and all the stuff we have bought at thrift stores. (You wouldn't believe the bags of stuff you can buy for a dollar!) This weekend, they took their villages out side. It's so funny....they will have 'rooms' set up everywhere they can. On the stairs...

.....and more stairs...........

Even the rails make great rooms......God forbid that little girl roll over!!

My daughter's friend has made a home in an old desk.........hey, she might be on to something here~ I could just see an art studio in here...hmmmmmmm

But for now, it's a bedroom

And here's a couch I made a long time ago. It's pieces of a 2x4 cut down, and wrapped with batting and material. Oh, and then wrapped in lace. I used a hot glue gun to do this, and I'd say it's held up great!

And the best part.....my boys bring out their GI Joes! I remember one time GI Joe flew in on his helicopter and picked up Barbie for a date....I love listening to them act out our world, it's quite interesting!!

Easier than I thought!

OK, I've figured out what this stuff is called~ It's vinyl tile, at least that is what was on my sales receipt when I bought the 'wood' ones this weekend. Can you believe they were on clearance for 75 cents each???
I'm going to use the 'wood' ones to do the parents bedroom. I've only put one tile in here, so you can get an idea of what it will look like when I'm done. They're sticky tiles, and very easy to cut! Then, as I was giving the kids the last of the Caprisun's, I decided to try and see if I could shrink it. I took it outside, broke the box down flat, then took a picture. I came inside and loaded the picture into my PhotoImpact Pro program and took it in the print preview page and shrunk it down to the size I wanted.
I printed it out, then cut it out........turned out pretty well, huh! Feel free to copy the above picture into your print program and play! Good Luck!

Fairy books

I ran across this site the other day and printed out some books for Cora's house. These little covers all full of detail! And there's a lot of fairy books! http://homepage.ntlworld.com/dp.grice/booksweb.htm
And then we have Mr. Otis. Sorry for those of you that are tired of seeing him, but this IS my page:)!! And besides, he's in the dining room, in Cora's dollhouse. So, that should count for something.

Another Kitty Condo

Thought I'd drop off a picture of the kitty condo I made today. No, it doesn't take all day to make one....it just takes me all day to complete one. I used a piece of scrapbook paper that looked like a basket, and even had to 'borrow' some twine from the neighbor! Then I glued a button on to cover up where the 2 ends of the twine met. We won't mention that this one is a little crooked, now will we!

Pack Rats

I've always been called a pack-rat! And I'm OK with that. Actually, I think it has become a benefit to me since I've starting making miniatures. Well, actually, it's a benefit to crafters in general. And I'm starting to see that it's an inherited trait. I actually got a double whammy of it, seeing as both my parents have this trait. My Mom is a crafter, and my bio-dad is a war-gamer. She, still to this day, has a craft room I can only hope to one day have. And I'm sure my father is stuffed away in his war-gaming room somewhere, either playing on his computer, or painting his next miniature. I've seen crafts everyday of my life! And I have loved every minute of it. Now you see though, if we weren't pack rats, my Mom wouldn't of dug up this magazine from 1979......Yes, the year I was born. ~ I was branded with miniatures from the moment I arrived!It's neat to sit down and look at this magazine. It has house plans, and tutorials on plants. Funny thing is, Is that people are still making 'old' homes and furniture, lol. Even in 79 they were making replicas. Personally, I like making more modern things, but I do still like to look at eye- candy! The add below is for a more modern house. It looks like it should be surrounded by snow. Can you see in the attic, it has built in bookshelves!!! And I love the stairs that lead up to the attic. I wonder what it would take to find one of these? Hmmmmmm.....And for my Otis fans........he has finally learned how to take the lid off the catnip. This picture was taking right before he popped it off, Oh my, did he make a mess!! LMAO~ I guess I shoulda taking an after picture, but I was too busy trying to get the catnip cleaned up before he ate to much! Can cats even get sick from eating too much catnip? Who knows.....lol. You see his front paw, he has that tub locked down, and used his teeth to take the lid off! bad kitty!

The Toilet Paper Roll Challenge

I read a blog, everyday, called Casey's Minis (http://www.caseymini.blogspot.com/). Yesterday, she posted a blog about a little footstool made out of a toilet paper roll. Well, it got me thinking about what else could be made out of tp-rolls......and then it came to me................A Kitty Condo! I used the following:

I cut the tp-roll in half. Then, you have to wiggle the tp-roll down onto the paper punch, but it will work. And don't worry about pushing to hard on the tp-roll, if it flattens out, it will come back to life later!
You see where this is going..... Now to decorate! I used scrapbook paper, ribbon and a gold pen (to outline the circle in the middle with). Look, Pocus has come to show you how cute the new Kitty Condo is!So, now I challenge you.....What can you make with a toilet paper roll???
