Still Marshmallowing over here...lol

...Oh, and now the kids are calling it 'The Marshmallow House', Thanks!! Hahahaha!!! Just thought while I waited for our Spaghetti noodles to boil, I'd drop off pictures from yesterday's work. I have yet to do anything mini today....Just been trying to keep up with the kids!

I was able to finish the rocks around the front door...

...And then I started down the side.

I'd like the do the top part of the house with shingles......and then do a different kind of shingles on the roof......But, we'll have to see what I can find around here first. OK...until next time.....

MarshMallow'ing

I laughed so hard this morning when I read Chris' comment~ Marshmallowing the house, huh......I bet it would be a lot quicker than this paperclay!! I really didn't get that much more done yesterday either......Spent most the day on the couch, and was in bed by 7~ I never go to bed that early....I'm always the last one asleep around here. LOL....and Otis had me awake at 2! He's such a snuggle bunny!! Sleeps right in your arms as if he's a baby...

In the first picture, I started with the bottom rocks....
And in the second picture I was working on the windows.

This last picture is where I stopped for the night.....hopefully I can get the front door finished today! Not to sure how I want to finish this house yet.... I'm just going with the flow on this one, and we shall see where it takes us...

The Cozy Cottage in the Forest

Thought I'd show you where I'm headed with the new house..I started by building up the front window with Styrofoam.

Then I broke out the paper clay....

You believe this took me 3 hours to do?? LOL...At least it's a start!

*Oh before I forget......If you go look at the last post, I think in the last picture.....You will see that Ms. Beaver has a small piece of paper in her hands~ That's the sheet of sandpaper that came with the kit...And when I saw how small it was, I couldn't stop laughing!! That's about the only complaint I have with this little house......

OK....I'm going back to bed! I've got a cold, the computer has a virus.......and I'm over it.....lol......Hopefully I can get some more 'rocks' put in today!! See ya later!

PS.....Don't cut Styrofoam in your bed!! You'll be up all night picking the 'dust' out of your sheets! LOL!!

And one more thing...I have a few emails I need to get too......So don't think I've forgotten about ya'll.........I'll get to them sometime soon!!

Thank-you! Thank-you!! Thank-you!!!

Ok...I just couldn't help myself....After reading about these houses on April's Blog: http://everylittlethingakw.blogspot.com/
this morning....I just had to run to Michael's and find one for the critters. I brought it home, and put it together....it's not glued yet, still haven't figure out how I want to do this one, but I'm excited!!! It was such a spur of the moment decision! ...And after using the 40% off coupon~ it only cost $4.79!!!

Ok Little house....

...do you want to be a school house.....

Or a bachelor pad for the 'big' brother??
Or do you want to be a cozy cottage in the forest???
Hmm??? Decisions, decisions!!!

And now for the Rest of the Story...

Thanks for all the encouragement yesterday about finding the lost blog....LOL, But I've had no such luck?? So I will try this again today!

So...every year my 2 oldest children go to camp in West Virginia. They go to a special camp for kids with asthma~ called Camp Catch Your Breath. It sponsored by the American Lung Association, and a lot of companies and doctors donate the money to cover the costs. It really is a neat place. The camp grounds are on the site of Jackson's Mill. You can read more about the history here:
http://www.wvu.edu/~exten/depts/jmill/jmhist.htm
and here:
http://www.wvu.edu/~exten/depts/jmill/jmh_area.htm
The first year we took the kids, we took the 'tour' around the site and got to see lots of interesting things. As you will see I paid no attention in History class when I was in school and now, I could kick myself in the butt for it! Yea! I know Dad...I shoulda listened!!

So this is Jackson's Mill.....I had to lie down on the dock I was standing on to get this shot. I wanted the flowers in the picture, too!!

And here's a shot of the back side...

And the inside of that fireplace...This building had to moved across the river at one point, so they numbered the bricks to get them all back in the right place...interesting, huh?! *Don't forget to click on the pictures to make them bigger...

This was in the first building we went into....It's where they make yarn and weave.

And across from that is where they do the paper marbling...This would be neat to do in miniature!

Here's a shot of the outside of the Blacksmith's shop

...and a picture I took inside of the building....

...here's a picture I took inside of the mill...It's a scale.

I'm not going to repost all the pictures I posted yesterday...most were of the outside of buildings....But it got me thinking...

*They have a General Store, which also houses the Post Office. There's jams, old kids toys...postcards~ You know Souvenir stuff.......There's art, and a few portraits. It would be a neat way to add all the details you can't put elsewhere....Old money, Candy sticks on the front counter...

*Or what about a garden, They always seem to have a garden filled with lots and lots of veggies and herbs....

*You could do a carpenter's shop~ a place where furniture is built......

*Then there's the saw mill, the grist mill....lol, are they the same thing...or is one where they cut wood and the other for making flour?? My brain is tired this morning, lol......

*Or the Paper Marbling place...They used it for the insides of books..there's also candle making...

I hope these ideas help.....and I hope that no one minds that I'm all up in their business......LOL, Just trying to help here........ :)

~I have no minis to show you right now, haven't been feeling all to great......something tells me I'm starting to get a cold....or it's just my allergies? The weather here is crazy....90 one day...and 50 the next......Gotta love Virginia~ I've always said, if you don't like the weather...wait a minute, It will change, Hahaha!!!!

Ok....I'm off to finish some clay tiles I started last night...I only hope they come out the way I want them to....We shall see, either way I'll show you later.

Future plans for Critter Food

Just wanted to make some mental notes of what I hope to do this up coming week.....
Cora wants food for the critters...so I guess I need to clean up my other mess, and drag out the clay. I'm thinking about trying to do some vegetarian dishes...lol...something special for the critters. I'd also like to make some desserts.....cookies, cakes.....Hmm??? I also want to make some critter food: seeds, veggies, berries.....what else? What else would a family of bunnies love to have on the dinner table??? (Actually just read that rabbits aren't suppose to have seeds, Just lots of fresh greens, and a little bit of fruit, see...You learn something new everyday!)

*Here's one of my favorite sites for making mini food:
http://www.norajean.com/Food/Index.htm

Ok...So here's a few other ideas:
*Grass/hay~ Raffia maybe?
*I'll need lots of fresh greens! And 'a little bit' of fruit....
*Need some Clover and Dandelions...ok

I think that's it for now...I'm off to watch the end of Survivor....and get some of that mess I was talking about clean! See ya later! :)
