Well............ I'm here..... Still sick.... But I'm here. Haven't made anything this week, cause I've been spending most of my time online getting my Etsy page going. It is easier than I thought, Just time consuming! And well.... in between the kids/cats/bf.... someone always wants something. Wouldn't it be nice if I could find a hole around here to hide in! Somewhere where no on can find me:) LOL.... I'd be able to get soooo much more work done! Oh well... a girl can dream, can't she??? LOL

First is a cabinet I found at the thrift store..... I so wish the other side opened, and that the shelves were straight.... but for $.55 I couldn't resist.


Next is something my BFF bought me....

It's Meaty!! ((If you've even seen the Rob and Big Show.... You'll know who Meaty is.)) And not only did we get Meaty, but also a cool board for the skate shop. And speaking of boards for the skateshop~ McDonald's has Clone Wars~ Star Wars skateboards... But after a suggestion from my youngest, I think they'll go in his Star Wars Toystore. And yes! I know.... I really need to finish Both these projects.... One day, huh!!!

Alrighty then.... hopefully my brain recharges here soon cause I have some ideas of things I want to make next.... Just gotta find the time, and the umph to get 'er done!

Etsy questions.... again

First I wanted to say thank-you to the comments on the earlier post! I got my page set up, and even managed to get a banner made.... only took me all day to figure that out. I'm not totally in love with it, but it will do for now. I've got a paypal account now.... so I think I'm on a roll.

((Isn't Uncle Freddy Frou-Frou such a good Kitty! He's keeping Wilbur all snugly!)) Oh....and poor Wilbur is now being called Goo-Bur! Short for Good Wilbur. I told the bf he could't call my kitty a goober No More!

Now for the questions....

First.... How do you add a google translator to you blog? I had someone recently request this, but for what ever reason, I'm not finding it.

And for the big question:

First things first.... I gotta make a banner. I'm good at photoshop, so that doesn't scare me, but what picture should I use. Guess this is a question for myself....lol

OK, So what's up with the credit card, do they put charges on it, or can you redirect the charges to paypal. can you only take paypal...or if you take credit cards, does etsy process that for you??

well, my mind has drawn a blank at this point, but I know I have questions.... I'm sure I'll be back later to add to this....

Oh... any tips, Anything I need to know? I feel so lost with this. It wasn't something I really wanted to do, I'd rather give everything away, but I think this is the only way I'll ever be able to go back to 'work'. And we all know people need to make a living. I love to make stuff, and for some reason I can never make just one of something, so my extras will go into my store. I'm hoping nothing changes about me blog.... I still plan on telling and showing you how I did stuff. And that way those of you that have the time can make it, and those of you that don't can buy it:) I'm taking baby steps with this until I figure it out........

You gotta see this Bookcase:)

On my way home from running errands yesterday, I decided to stop by the thrift store to have a 'look'. Now why is it when your just having a look, you find more crap then you know what to do with?? And yet when you go in there with the purpose of buying something, you can never find it?? Anyways...... I couldn't believe what I saw!! There were 7 different dollhouse furniture sets. And they were only $4 a piece. Do you know how hard it was to just choose one??!! LOL... Here is the one I choose.... Now, there is no plastic on this..... It's just that freakin shinny!! Damn Varnish!!

I decided to redo the piece at the top........ Ready to see what I did:)
First thing to go was all the doors.... I saved them for another project, and even lucked out with 6 new cabinet drawer pulls!!

Then that Varnish had to go. This step took the longest! It was pretty thick!

Next, it got 2 coats of brown paint.......

I know, I just couldn't help myself.... But I had to crackle it:) I did 2 thick coats of crackle medium, and let them dry in between coats. Then I used a sand color paint to do the top coat!

And I couldn't be more pleased with myself. It's stunning!! :)

My last step was to sand again.... Hitting all the edges to give it more character!

I absolutely LOVE this piece. Don't have a home for it yet, but I'm thinking one day it's gonna need it's own shabby chic room! :)

An updated dress form

Well..... It's getting there. I decided to skip the bow..... and used some of the ribbon Ira had sent me to do a waist band. I think a bow would of taken away from the pearl necklaces...... and I like it simple... What do you think?? Does it need any thing else?

...Oh and thank you for suggesting the wire... I found the thinnest wire I had, and went with it. And I was able to form it around the neck, and drape it the way I wanted.... so Thank-you!! :)

Today's Birdhouses

Just wanted to show you the birdhouses I finished today..... These were really easy, but once again time consuming. Keeps me on the couch resting though:)


...yeah! There's more. LOL.... I wanted smaller ones....


The one in the middle is the smallest.... And the one with the 6 holes is the biggest~ doesn't it remind you of a Lego?

I think I'm over the birdhouses for now?! Guess I should get back to thinking about that dress form. Thank-you for your tips.... I will let you know where I went with it when I finish it:)

Another use for drawer pulls...

Hello! The rain is back:( I was really hoping the sun would come out this week so I could get some outside pictures taken, but no luck..... And speaking of luck...... Went to get my oldest yesterday from his Grandmother's... and he had picked up a cold. And wouldn't you know by the time we got home, I too had the cold! WTF?? I'm not going to fuss about it, cause this is my happy place, but I feel yucky!!

OK>...Now on to the good stuff!! I told you last week, that I was working on some birdhouses, and now that they're done, I can show them to you:) Whatcha think?? .......me, I'm in love with the blue ones.....


But only because I got to use some left over drawer pulls for the perches:) I really, really like them!! lol.... did you notice that I haven't put away the crackle paint yet?? LOL... It's just soooo addictive! Hahaa Oh, I used earring backs on the yellow houses.... and on the green ones, I cut of the tip of a Popsicle stick and glued it to it.


And a pic to give you a little perspective on size. This is my tallest birdhouse.....

And here's today's project. Remember the dress form I showed you in my last post? Well....Here's where I'm at with it. First though~ Let me tell you that I spent the other night going through pictures online to figure out what I wanted! And I looked at hundreds of pictures!! I also kept a list of what I liked about what I saw.... and then went from there....

So

~I cut off the bottom.... and crackled painted it. I also painted the top piece and the wheels gold. Then I found a piece of lace that I liked and glued it around the waist. Wish I hadn't of glued it as tight as I did.... but I'm working with it. Next I'm going to put a ribbon around her waist, but I'm having a hard time tying a bow..... Well, tying a bow that I like. I also want to put some beads around her neck, but can't seem to find a string that lays right..... Any suggestions, Please?? What kind of thread do you use in miniatures?? Fishing line ain't cutting it, lol!

Hopefully I can get this dumb bow tied today, and have a finished project to show you tomorrow, but we shall see. All I really want to do is go back to bed!
