An update on my cabinet

I know... I know.... I'm suppose to be over in Etsy listing those doorknob birdhouses.... But I just couldn't help myself..... Thought you might like to see my updated cabinet....

.... On the top (all the way to the right) is one of the new game pieces I have just acquired... painted white... On the next shelf is 2 of the monopoly houses... And 2 little coffee mugs that Sonya had sent me. I cut out the tiniest K and S from another black sticker... and glued them on the mugs... The plate in the middle on the next shelf down is another one that Sonya had sent... And so is the other one with the K on it on the bottom shelf. I did add a few shells here and there this time..... But I think it needs a few more.

Oh.... and that's a cake column next to the shelf, spray painted with that stone texture stuff.... I then put a big dinner plate on it, and sat one of my doll heads on it.....

And do you see that gap on the top shelf.... I was missing some of my little jugs.... and could not seem to find them this morning. I have since torn up the living room and found them.... but wasn't going back out side to take more pictures. You'd be surprised at how long it actually takes to set something up sometimes!!

Here's a close up of the plates that Sonya sent. They were painted with several layers of gesso, then several layers of white paint. Then I went back and stamped the letter K on one and #3 in the bowl.... but when I went to seal them... the ink smeared! So I had to repaint everything several times........ and then tried to use paint with my stamps, and the prints were horrible.... So I repainted them again.... and this time choose the easy way out and just used stickers. I don't know why I didn't try that to begin with! I just LOVE my new dishes!

And while I'm here I wanted to show you another project I've been working on. I bought these letters a long time ago at the craft store.... but could never figure out how to attach them to the house..... So I came up with this.

I'm thinking it needs a little more age.... and some green mossy stuff and then maybe I'll be happy with it?! One day it may even get put on the house, lol....

Well..... OK..... I'm off to Etsy.....

Until Next Time!

An Update in Katie's Corner

First... I finally got the barns up in Etsy, if anyone is interested?!

So...

As easy as it might seem, It took me a couple of years to find that little glass of chocolate milk. Isn't it funny how something so tiny, can make all the difference in the world? I drink a glass of Carnation Instant Breakfast every morning....so it only seemed natural to have a glass on my breakfast tray! And while I was in here..... I went ahead and put my DREAM houses above the bed~ That's a shelf of shells that it's sitting on.

Next, it's on to the dresser. All the way to the left is the nesting doll I bought a while back.......And, while I'm here, I wanted to show you what one of my candles looks like in use. I'll have to get a pic one day while it's lite.

Before I go, I thought I'd show you all the houses together....I've been working on these since November, I think?! And if you look close, you'll see some benches that I need to get listed, too.

Alrighty then...
.....Beware, I have several random posts to get to this week.....LOL

Until Next Time

A little of this and a little of that

First....some minis. I had to clean up my desk this morning, and totally got side-tracked when I saw that one of the cats (Not naming any names here....), but one of the cats had knocked over everything inside Katie's Corner. One day.......I AM going to find a darn glass case to put this thing in.....I am so tired of putting it back together.....but anyways, I figured while I had it out....I'd add some personal photos to the mirror. I also put a pink candle on the dresser. Oh, and I added some flowers to that glass bead on the silver tray. Still haven't cleaned off my desk, and now I'm watching Transformers 2 again. (If you haven't seen it, It's awesome! At least I think so!! But then again, I have seen the first one so many times, that I've memorized all the lines.)

As for my personal life.......I'm still getting checked out by the doctors, It's been one problem after another....but I went to my PCP yesterday....and finally got them to order some to tests. Grandma is.......Well, I dunno. Her vitals are good, but she's not really alert.....Hospice was there yesterday to tell the family that she will probably pass on in the next month or so. She had surgery several weeks ago to clean out her colon, and has just never really recovered. My parents, my Aunt and Uncles....and most of my cousins are there now, and it kills me that I am stuck here. I just don't want to miss being able to say good-bye, you know. Hopefully I can get this mess straightened out out here....and then we'll see what happens.

You guys would like my Grandmother! She's an amazing Quilter.....and she's a cat lover~ who also feeds strays!

So......until next time.

Upstairs in Katie's Corner

For those of you that don't know......This is the inside of Katie's Corner. It's My first Big girl dollhouse.......and I made it from a roombox kit. If your interested, you can see the beginning of it in the very beginning of my blog. The downstairs is a general store....and upstairs is where I'd live if I could:)

Here's a picture of the last time I 'played'.......and every time I come back to it....everything is out of place. I just can't seem to keep Otis out of this house! So anyways........yesterday I pulled the house put, and sat down and rearranged........

I had to start under the bed.......The Art supplies had been strolled all over the floor(which is actually the way it is in reality, but hey! This is the land of make believe, right, LOL!) The other 2 boxes are labeled Blankets and Sweaters.......

Next I re-stacked the shoe boxes....None of these boxes are full.....yet.

I also went ahead and put some of the magazines in a basket Mercedes made me.... I also moved that bear and purse down into the corner....

The rest of the magazines went into another container that Mercedes made for me.... LOL~ Yup! That's a Playgirl Magazine with Brat Pitt in front!! Hahaha.....I thought it was funny:)

I slide that container under the chair I made....and filled it up with some books. The Canadian Bird Book that Doreen made for a bunch of us in in front. And one of the clay dolls I've been working on is sitting in the chair.

I rearranged the items on top of the night stands. There's a jewelry box, a sketch pad and a pack of markers laying on this one.

.....and on this one is a finger nail polish kit that I made, a phone and a Dragonfly container that Mercedes sent. Actually, the end tables were also a gift from Mercedes:) She sends lots of good stuff!!

I rearranged the serving tray that was on the bed. I just added the flowers in the corner, thought it was more girlie that way.

AND! I finally glued this:

...to the wall. It's the hook from a hook and eye set. I wanted to hang this beautiful cross stitch panel that MiniKat made for me, and I had just been putting it off. I was afraid that cat of mine would get it, so I mounted it in the back corner. My dollhouse kitties are well behaved, so I Know they won't hurt it.......and seeing as it is on the other side of the big cabinet in that room, I don't think Otis can get to it. Now I just need to figure out how to hide the ugly hook. Either a button or something made of polymer clay will work, huh? Any other suggestions are welcome!

And I was so busy playing inside the house yesterday, that I totally missed what had happened to the outside. Now, we knew this would happen, and I'm surprised that they actually lasted this long.....But my Corner Shingles are missing??? Wonder who would of done a thing like that???
Yup! Both sides are missing..........Guess I'll have to moss this roof, and I'll have to make sure the corners are extra thick.
That Darn Cat!!!!
Until Next Time

Good Lord! I took a lot of pictures...

I'll try to make this short to make up for all the pictures I have posted...

Yesterday, I decided to glue somethings in Katie's Corner....But first I had to take everything out. Did I ever show you what's under the bed in the bedroom???

Storage boxes! Look they're even labeled and the one labeled 'Art Supplies' is almost full!! See how they line up....fits perfectly under the bed!

And in the very back right corner, we have a shelf. See my shoe boxes~ they were made from a printie traced onto scrapbook paper. They have not been filled yet...it's on that long list of things to do! LOL....there's even a surf board to hit the beach before the sun comes up...I love riding the waves in as the sun comes up behind me......oh, the good old days.....

And here's some of the 'after pictures':
The left angle...

From the right angle...

And a few close ups.
I glued in one of my little shadow boxes behind the bed.

Then there's a picture I took in Yellowstone National Park of a tree....I love trees!

And then there's the picture I took of Devil's Tower in South Dakota.......
That's a little hedgehog on the night stand....

And my favorite part of the whole room......A tea tray I made with a bagel and cream cheese. There's also a mug that reads Katie...and an apple....

Then last night Cora and I sat down with some of those tiny cut outs that Tara sent us....And added 'magnets' to her fridge....

It adds so much more personality to her kitchen....

Ok...Truth be-told. I wasn't crazy about this bright yellow kitchen either...but now that it's coming 'alive' I love it!!
And before we went to bed we played in the nursery.....(That's Cora's hand, she's rearranging some of the blocks.)
We set up a 'daycare' scene.....There's lots of babies in here!
See the baby getting a bottle....At first I had the baby propped up in the crib...but I figured that was no good! I once learned that harsh lesson from watching what a neighbor did. Horrible day....Moral of the story....Don't leave your baby unattended when they're drinking from a bottle...There is that chance that they could choke to death! So....being the good mom that I am, I did explain to Cora why I wasn't going to leave the baby in the crib by herself.....Call me crazy?!
Hope you enjoyed these....Cora and I had fun playing!
Until next time........
Oh...Guess what...I finally got my printer plugged in....and started some things for the Star Wars Toy Store....but I save that story for another time.....Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.....and for all of you that are hours ahead of us......Happy Mother's Day!!!

A picture for Mercedes...

See, I told you those two little side tables would be perfect (just the way the were) in my Pink room. If you click on the picture, you can see all the little details. I have 2 pictures leaned up against the furniture to be hung behind those end tables. Then there's a shell shadow box at the foot of the bed that needs to be hung above the bed. I even found my Katie mug.....just need to figure out how to get some 'chocolate milk' in there...I welcome any suggestions please!!!! There's lots of flowers in here...I love flowers! Still need to find some little 'fillers' for here and there....but it's coming along.

You see this afternoon, I happened to look over at Katie's Corner (which is the house that has the pink room up top, and a shop down below)......and noticed that the dresser was upside down on my desk...Upon further inspection, it looked like the house had been hit by a hurricane...AKA Hurricane Otis....That's when I decided to rearrange things to fit in my end tables. Then I had to do a little rearranging in the shop........thinking to myself the hole time~ Damn Cat! Stay outta my House!! I swear he belly flopped right into it! So, after I cleaned up a little, I took a few pictures.....that's when I noticed I had a new tenant in the shop.....Now, if you think about scale here....That's One Big Spider, hahaha!!! Guess I have to relocate him if I ever expect to have any customers!!

Stupid Shingles...

You shoulda seen me doing the happy dance! Woo Who! I'm done with the shingles!!

I know! It's not very pretty, and I'm sure there has to be a better, easy way to do the corners.....but I figured I better finish them they way I started them.

See, this is the other corner, it doesn't look too bad once it gets the final stain....

Ta-Da! A shingled house!

Now to figure out how to support those corners. I swear if you look at it the wrong way those corners shingles will fall right off.

I thought about flipping the house over and filling the whole underneath with paperclay........Any body have a better suggestion before I go messing things up?

Katie's Corner Gets a Roof!!

I know, I know......I'm suppose to be painting a castle...........Haha......Well, I got side tracked.......and I'll blame it on Casey. Every time she does a roof, I tell myself I need to do mine. One, I've been waiting for it to warm up a little...and 2, well, I'm just a procrastinator! LOL!! I've had everything to do it, I was just scared of messing it up. But today, I took a chance................and broke out the shingles and stain. It was a lot easier than I thought it would be.........I put my shingles in a large zip lock bag, added a little bit of stain, and mixed it up until all the shingles were coated. I dumped them out of the bag onto a cardboard box, and then used some old, brown-paper bags to soak up some of the excess stain. After they dried, I used Aleene's Fast Grab Tacky Glue (Thanks Casey for the tip....the glue works really well for this!) to attach the shingles to the roof. I still need to do the bottom sides, and those corners are making me want to hide, But I'm sure I'll figure it out!!
The color is probally better shown in the first picture.....not too sure the I like the lighter color.....Now that I'm looking at it from a distance I think darker shingles would of looked much better. Maybe I can add a wash to it, give it more of a dark brown look. Whatca think???

Putting everything back into place....

I'd thought I'd start the day off with a question: Otis, how in the world is that comfortable?? Your head's not even level with your butt!?! And do feel like your foot is floating? Way too funny!!! I swear, they'll sleep anywhere!

I went digging through my stuff last night looking for a bouncy ball.......I still don't believe that in a house with 3 kids I can't find one bouncy ball.....Oh well, guess I'll have to get one next time I'm at the grocery store~ I wanted one for the nursery. Anyways, while I was digging, I found this bear. I do believe he was one of the first things I made out of polymer clay, in 1996. Not to bad, huh? And today, I've been putting Katie's Corner back together. No need to worry, I found the Jungle Undies...you see them, there in the bottom right corner. The thought they were getting away! Hahahaha....... The bagel was under the bed....along with the apple, What a healthy breakfast, huh.....all I need now is that glass of chocolate milk! The kitties are back on their perch, and the bear is nestled back on the bed. I even borrowed a pair of Barbie's shoes, I know they look a little too big, but, hey, If you saw how big my feet were, you'd understand, lol!! I put the flowers back on the dresser, and found all the accessories for the tray. If you look close, you can see that she has her surf board stashed between the dresser and the white metal shelf. Maybe before she opens the store, she'll head down to the beach to catch a wave or two. And I even managed to wrangle the Jungle Undies back into their bag...they are in the bottom right corner of the picture.
Then I moved onto the store......I put everything back where it was, and even added a few extras. On the bottom shelf, I put out the stone pavers, in 3 different sizes! I put bricks in the silver bucket in the front, thought it looked nicer than trying to stack them on a shelf. Here's a picture of Katie's Corner. I still have room to add lots of treasures! That empty shelf in the back may get some jars of seeds....maybe some lavender, or sage, or even some catnip or something?!?!

I've managed to spend the whole weekend..thinking! Scary huh! Yesterday I brought out those 2 red chairs I need to refinish and managed to stare at them all evening! Horrible! Sometimes you just sit and look at something till it comes to ya, Well, it never did last next!!! I did get all the legs pulled of, and found some wood I can cut down to make for legs....but trying to figure out how to make a slip cover was mind boggling! I think I'll save them for when I go home for the holidays and see if Mom will help me sew something for them. I also plan on begging her to do the curtains for Cora's house! I better make a list huh.........Hahahaha:) I love you Mom:)!!
