Random Pics....

Well............ I'm here..... Still sick.... But I'm here. Haven't made anything this week, cause I've been spending most of my time online getting my Etsy page going. It is easier than I thought, Just time consuming! And well.... in between the kids/cats/bf.... someone always wants something. Wouldn't it be nice if I could find a hole around here to hide in! Somewhere where no on can find me:) LOL.... I'd be able to get soooo much more work done! Oh well... a girl can dream, can't she??? LOL

Hopefully these pics hold you over until I can get something made:)
First is a cabinet I found at the thrift store..... I so wish the other side opened, and that the shelves were straight.... but for $.55 I couldn't resist.

Next is something my BFF bought me....

It's Meaty!! ((If you've even seen the Rob and Big Show.... You'll know who Meaty is.)) And not only did we get Meaty, but also a cool board for the skate shop. And speaking of boards for the skateshop~ McDonald's has Clone Wars~ Star Wars skateboards... But after a suggestion from my youngest, I think they'll go in his Star Wars Toystore. And yes! I know.... I really need to finish Both these projects.... One day, huh!!!

Alrighty then.... hopefully my brain recharges here soon cause I have some ideas of things I want to make next.... Just gotta find the time, and the umph to get 'er done!
so
Until Next Time...

Virginia Beach's Murals.....

Sunday morning the kids were restless.....so we took a drive down to the strip, and the kids took pictures, of the murals, from the back seat of the car. I started a skate shop for Drew a while back, and it's one of those projects that sit on my desk, and begs for me to finish it. I haven't found the perfect thing to put on the outside yet, so that's why it's still sitting.....So I thought we'd go look at some inspiration: Wanna go with us??

First is one of our favorites! Coming from a military background...this means a lot to me!
*taken from www.roadsideamerica.com:
Virginia Beach, Virginia - Flagship Motel's Military Might Mural
Mike and Sam's "A Celebration of American Heroes," proudly honors the men and women who battle to keep America safe from terror. On the 60-by-180 foot back wall of the Flagship Motel, located in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Mike McCloskey and Sam Welty painted a composite of Atlantic Fleet vessels and support aircraft to remind all of the September 11, 2001 attacks aftermath and contributions made by our military.

And here's a link to a better picture: http://www.angelfire.com/art2/largemurals/

Another favorite of ours is all the sea life murals.....Like this Shark....

...and this Killer Whale.....

...or what about an underwater scene......(wish the kids had said something about this, cause I woulda gone back around the block to get better pictures!!)

This sun is everywhere....but this one is our favorite!

This would be cool on top of a building!

...it's a haunted house......and now that I think about it, I've never been in it......

The outside of the indoor, in the dark....miniature golf building....

A memorial to honor for fallen officers....
(This mural and several others were done by 2 brothers that go by the name T.A.L.ent. Murals.....You can find more of their work here: http://entertainment.webshots.com/album/557396474ricQNK

And look...there's even a pineapple!!

Thanks for riding along with us. We still haven't figured out what to put on the side of the building.....I want whales.....Drew wants a battleship on top of the water with whales swimming underneath.....and the bf says we can't have whales on the outside of a skateshop....that we need something more manly.....So, I dunno......first I gotta get the 'cinder blocks' glued on.

I know, I know.....I jump from one thing to the next.....I will be drilling that groud for the fire place this week, I promise, just don't have full use of my hands yet, and well, we all know that even with 2 working hands, I will still have problems. So stay tuned......I actually have ZERO doctor appts this week....so maybe I can get something done?
So, until next time:)

...one more thing....

I forgot to show you something earlier.....I mounted one of those Dollar Store TVs in the upper left hand corner of the store..... Glue...lots, and lots of glue!

Thought I'd show you a peek of what the skate shop actually looks like......

Terrible! Such a mess! LOL, but I had to find a way to keep Otis from destroying that cork floor, so by having that "Junk" box in there, it keeps him out! ....somewhat...
*I also went ahead and added the 'label' feature to my blog (All the way at the bottom!)......Let me know if it helps or not.....I think it's a bit toooooo much, too many labels!!! LOL!

Update on the Skate Shop

Debbie asked for some pics of the Skate Shop.......I'm a long way from being done~ haven't started the outside yet, but the inside is moving along nicely!
I put the closed sign on the front door, seeing as it's not finished yet. And what would a skate shop be without stickers Everywhere???

And here's the inside:

My favorite spot is over here......We can watch 'The Rob and Big Show" on the laptop......
LOL...Looks like the owner rode his "Toystory" board today, Hope he don't get dissed for having such a juvenile board! hehe.... Oh, and those are tiny stickers in and on the cabinet~ Remember I said there has to be lots of stickers, lol!!!

Let's see........I used cork to do the floors......Other than trying to keep the cat out of it~ he likes to 'pluck' the cork with his claws~ The floor is really, really neat!! You should try it sometime!
There's a bin to the left full of posters, magazines on and in the front counter and Lucky dog to protect it from intruders.......

Remember the plant I made......it found a home in the back right corner...And in the front right corner....We have colored grip tape, I made the little case it's in, and then decoupaged pictures from a skate magazine onto it. Adds character!

If you look on the top shelf in the big cabinet, you will see all the wheels. That's the cabinet that those truck will go into. Bet you can't guess what I'll be doing today. LOL
*Most of the skateboards in the shop are Tech Decks......my son collects them, and I wanted something special to display them in!
Hope you've enjoyed the pictures....I'm off to see what kind of trouble I can get into today! :)

Trucks for the Skate Shop

After wandering around this morning, trying to figure out "What to do Today?".......I figured I better do some work on the Skate Shop. My son took apart some of the trucks for me...I had just been procrastinating about painting those little tiny silver things....So, today I pulled out the blue tape, masked off what I didn't want to be painted......
And then, took them outside for 8 coats of paint.....Yes!! 8!! I did very, very, fine coats of spray paint.....LOL....this took all day~ Who whoulda' thought that painting 3 pairs of tiny little trucks would take sooooo long?! Then after dinner, I had my oldest reassemble them......

My oldest trying to keep his fingers out of the way.....you should see how small the bolts are!

And at last.......3 painted pairs of skate boarding trucks!

I See Lots of Plants in My Future!

I finished the plant for the Skate Shop, I think......well, I still need to add some 'dirt', but for the most part I think I'm done. And pretty impressed! Not too bad for my first try. I wish I could figure out how to make the stems a little less wiry......any ideas out there? I'd appreciate any advice! :) I even made the basket/planter it's sitting in....just covered the cap from a can of shaving cream with twine and glue. As for the leaves, I started with green paint... then did some yellow highlights, followed by some dark green then brown highlights. Oh, and I sealed them with a gloss finish.I think it needs to be a little taller, but for now it will half to do. Who knows, Cora's house may end up with it before it's all over.

I Just Couldn't Wait Till Tommorrow!!

I had to show you this today! I went ahead and positioned the cabinets in the shop. I really like how this is coming along! You see the puppy?? That's Lucky....a dog that lives at my oldest son's Grandmother's house.......When I saw him, I couldn't get over how much they looked alike! Perfect~ the skate shop will have a guard dog!! Maybe I need to make him a little spike collar or something?!This is probably one of my favorite corners! Someone has been watching The Rob and Big Show on the laptop......it's a wonder that any work ever gets done. Then there's the Toy Story skateboard! This was my son's favorite movie as a toddler......I laid it up against the desk to look as if it's the shop owner's board...Maybe that's what he rode to work this morning?!?!
And I got the grip tape display covered.....Hope my kid doesn't get mad that I cut a bunch of pictures out of his magazines:) Hey, they were for a good cause!!

Ok, back to painting the wheels....Just waiting for my green ones to dry so I can glue them in.

The Wheels on the bus Go Round and Round.....

Oh, what?? You don't like my singing?? LOL...Me neither!!

Spent some more time working on the skate shop yesterday. I got the designer wheels glued into the cabinet. I glued them onto a piece of clear plastic~ I knew I wasn't going to be able to glue them directly into the cabinet~ they would of never lined of perfectly.....And this way, I can just slide the whole thing in at once. And I got the display for the grip tape made. I just used scrap booking paper, made a bunch of boxes with one end open, and then glued them together. I think I might cover it with cut outs from one of my son's skate magazines......it's just too plain....

Alright, Let's go see what I can get into today?!

Learning How to Graffiti...

The more I think about the idea of doing graffiti on the outside of the skate-shop, the more excited I get. I spent hours last night watching 'how to' videos on You Tube! Then when I ran out of videos to watch, I switched over to Flickr.....and typed graffiti into their search engine....I was up till midnight looking at pictures! I tell ya, if you ever need color inspiration, check out what the graffiti artists are doing! There's some amazing art work out there! Anyways, I doodled out a few names. My son came up with the name Emuit a few weeks ago while looking at a crossword puzzle. For some reason, the word fascinates him, and he's been doodling it ever sense.........I figured since he liked the name, we'd tag the shop with it. I'd still rather find someone else to do this. I know I can do it, I just want it to be really, really, Great! Wonder if the people that airbrush t-shirts could airbrush in mini???? I betcha that would look hot!!

OK, I hope everyone has had a great Thanksgiving! I'm headed back to the couch to doodle!!!

Looking for a Graffiti Artist!!!

I'm back....my son and I were sitting here discussing ideas about our miniature shops, when he came up with an amazing idea. We have been working on a Miniature skate shop for some time....another one of those things I got side tracked from.......but we were sitting here talking about how to finish off the outside of the room box. I suggested doing some kind of beach house. But, his idea is much better....he suggested that we cover the outside to look like a brick building with graffiti on the outside! I love it, how creative.......living by the beach, we have a lot of buildings with ART on the out side! Just when I thought I'd never be able to figure out what to do, the kid solves the problem.....Now to find a graffiti artist that can do something great in miniature......

The 2 Ps.....

The skate shop needed some posters, easy enough, huh. I started by printing out some of the posters I had already hung, I did use regular printer paper instead of the photo paper. I couldn't get the photo paper to roll up. Once I got them all cut out, I rolled them up, and glue the ends to stay rolled.
Then I needed something to store them in....after looking through all my junk, I found 2 clay pots. I glued them bottom ends together, and then used my stone spray to give it the appearance of a big stone pot. I even made a poster that explains what you can buy. I think $12.99 is a fair price! And I even found a Rob and Big picture for the laptop......maybe the shop~keeper watches it in between customers.
I have a lot of stickers!!! And last night I pulled them out to see if I could find anything for the skate shop. No luck there.....but I did find something for Cora's house. I came across a scrapbook set from Jolee's Boutique. I have seen Casey make little shirts from scratch, but I am way to lazy for all that. So I pulled the pjs off, removed the sticky thing that was on the back, and folded them up. I did use some fabric glue to make sure every thing stayed in place, and I cut off the sleeves to get rid of some of the bulk.
I wrapped it up in ribbon........I think I'll put it on the end of the bed in the daughter's room.

....one more thing.....well, 2 more

Seeing as the shop

is still in the process of

opening, I figured I hang

the close sign up........Not to fear!

It will be open for business .........one day!

This little sign was simple. I googled 'open sign' and 'closed sign', and then copied it into my photoshop program. Once I had them printed, I cut them out. Then I glued a piece of string in between the two signs. I also went around the outside of the signs with a black permanent marker.

Below is a picture of a rug I found online. I just printed it out on photo paper, sprayed it with a sealer, and cut it out. It will go in front of the counter. I like how the colors blend in with all the posters and boards.

The little details

It's the little details that make these roomboxes appear to be real. I worked on the front door yesterday. Look close, and you will see the stickers on the door. I put them on the outside of the glass, even put a few on the window. I added a poster to the back of the door. And I took a brass door handle and sprayed it black.I used the stickers that came with the Tech Decks. You can see them on the floor. The left over stickers will be cut to size and placed in a cabinet. I think the front door needs an open/closed sign............and this little shop needs a name.

I should of never asked.

Someone please tell Otis that 5:30a.m. is NOT a reasonable time to eat breakfast. Do you believe that he got into the dollhouse, and started knocking things out, until I got up?! And now that he's all fat and happy, he's napping!

Well, the skateshop is coming along GREAT!! First I had to take off all those skateboards I glued on yesterday.....and use some better adhesive. Aleene's tacky glue was not strong enough. I went ahead and used the sticky stuff that came with the clips~ duh!! Worked a whole lot better! Then I arranged all the 'posters'......and even put a couple on the right wall.
I finally glued in all the skateboards. Well, at least all the skateboards that I started out to hang. I may add some more.
I made the mistake of asking the bf..."What do you think"................LOL............I shoulda known he'd try and take over....Back off.......it's my house! ............. What's that you say? It's Drew's shop? .........................Ohh..........Even made some skate magazines..........
Well it's back to the grind......
Gotta turn some sandpaper into grip tape, paint some trucks, and add tons of tiny stickers.

Stickers and posters

I feel as if I haven't gotten a thing 'done', and yet I've been working on the skate shop all day. I glued the skateboards onto the wooden dowel, but still have to glue it into the room. I also got the trim around the door and window finished.
This morning was spend hooking up my new printer and searching for pictures online. I love google....just type in what your looking for, click on images, and right click to save whatever pictures I may need. I now have lots of posters and stickers for the shop.......See the penny...gives you an idea of how little the stickers are!

Mounting the Tech Decks

Yesterday was spent trying to get caught up with life. Car needed a oil change, and errands had to be ran. I did, however, manage to play around with my sons Tech Decks. I bought some Command decorating clips~ I think they're meant to hang up Christmas lights......but clip on nicely to the decks. I do however have to add a beam to the wall to attach the clips to. Nothing is attached yet, I was just playing around with where the boards will go. Still have to frame out the window and the door, but I still like where this is going. My son seems to be pretty happy with it, too!!

Rub-ons for wall decorations?!!!

I love how the skate shop is coming along. I found some rub-ons yesterday at AC Moore's, and attached them to the walls. The boys painted the door and the window white last night, and I started to glue in the trim. I want to trim the door and the window, and still need to fill in some horrible gaps. The shell to this little shop is almost done.I worked on Cora's house too, yesterday. I got the front bay, front door and the bottom trim painted. Slowly, it's coming along. Notice how these two projects match?? That's because both of my children picked out the same color.....at different times. I think they both have great taste, hehe.
