I'm still here...

Meet Pocus~ thought this was too cute not to share!

OK.....I'm still here, it's just been a rough weekend. I have been able to get a few things done, but I still have a long way to go. The more I do, the more I think about adding. Gees....I started with a simple roombox for a reason, and now I have a little house?!?! I set my room up for one last time, took a picture so I can remember what I still need to do, and then packed everything away. Lets see if I can stay out of the box until I get the outside of my house done?!?!

My daughter and I went to the dollhouse store this weekend, and would believe that I walked out of the house without any money. Luckily I had $20 hiding in my car for an emergency, so it wasn't a complete waste of a drive. I picked up these flowers.......OK, I must admit~ I am addicted to these little flowers!!

And I have done a little more of the wood work. I still have a lot to do, and find myself straying off, often! But, it has to be finished before I can do anything else. So, I guess I know what I'll be doing this week.
Here is a picture of where I'm at with the bed. The first picture was my first attempt. In my head, it looked great, but when I got it on the bed~ it just didn't work. So I had to actually cut away some of the wood underneath the bed to get the lace to line up right. Yeah, I was trying to cheat the first time around. I also sanded the bed to give it that aged look. As you can see I still have to glue the top down.....and make pillows~ lots of pillows!!!

The Package

The stuff I ordered for my birthday from HBS came today!! The kitties are first. They all represent the kitties I currently have~ Jd (the black one), Otis (the orange one), and Pocus (the big gray one). Pocus needs to be painted brown (instead of gray), but the shape was perfect! I have a picture I am going to have to find for you~ Jd and Otis are in almost the same position as I have them pictured here.

Ohhhh....I love my lamp~ It has a dragonfly on it!! And I love dragonflies!!!!!!
I ordered a couple of dish sets to fill the big cabinet below. I now have several sets, so I can mix and match!
And this set below will go on a tray on the bed. My bagel will go on the plate~ hopefully it fits, lol.
The cabinet on the left will house all the china, and the shelf to the right will house junk~ books and boxes and such.

OK, although I really like the knomes~ they really need to be repainted. They are almost scary. Their cheeks look like they've been covered in blood. I'm going to have to repaint their cheecks in a nice rosy-red color before they go in the garden.

My favorite places

It feels really good when you actually finish something! I printed out these pictures I have taken on my journeys, and matted them....but, I knew they needed frames. I cut the frames out myself, didn't measure a thing, and all are just a little off, but I think it adds to the character! Of course I wanted to take the short cut, and leave them as they look in the first picture.....but, someone had to come along and suggest that I add that little piece of wood to the inside of the frame, and I knew I had to.

It really does make them stand out a little more.

Then, I painted them white, and thought they were a little too white. I took a finger nail file to them, and roughed them up a little.

And then today, I finally took them outside and tried to get a good picture. It was a little cloudy, but at least it's not blurry!!

OK, so where are these places?
Starting in the upper left, we have Mt. Rushmore~ with a llama peeking around the corner~ I love photoshop!! The picture in the upper right is at Jackson's Mill, in WV. Somehow this picture ended up with bubbles in it?!?!
And on the bottom row from left to right is: Devil's Tower, WY; The Natural Bridge, VA; and the last is of a tree in Yellowstone National Park.......................

The Pink Bedroom

I am getting rather impatient, and losing a bit of the umph I need to finish the outside of the house. So, last night, I took out some of the things that will go into the bedroom and 'played'. I made a bunch of mats for my pictures this past week. You can see one in the bottom right corner~ it's The Natural Bridge, in Virginia, in case your wondering. I figured since this room has no windows, I was going to need some pictures of the outside to hang on the walls. I colored copied a piece of scrapbook paper, shrunk it down on the computer, and used the printed papers to cover the mats. I still need to finish putting together the little white frames that will go on these. But, I think it is coming together well!!

And then today, I finally got up the courage to redo the bed. I pulled off the old material, and used it as a pattern. (I plan on keeping that material to make a pillow) OK, so I totally cheated and glued it together, but I like it. I started to do a bedskirt, I even sewed the whole thing by hand, but once I got it on there, I really didn't like it. Then, nothing seemed to please me, so I decided to put it away until tommorrow. We shall see what happens.

Where the shop will live...

Today, the last piece of roof ledge was glued down. Once it drys, I will have to go back and support it a little more. Still gotta figure out how to do a thatched roof. But, first, I have to finish the outside boards and rock work. Yes, this little room box has a long way to go.

I thought I'd include a picture of my work desk. LOL, I don't think I have ever actually worked at my desk, I much perfer the couch! But, everything I used gets stored here. Well most of it.....some of my things have found their way into other parts of the house.....and everything gets shifted to whatever room I decide to work in. I can honestly say I don't think I have anything stored in the bathroom.....oh, wait~ that's where the iron lives~ and Yes, I only use it to craft....won't even tell you the last time I ironed something to actually wear. I couldn't live live without my art clutter.........It makes me , ME!

Oh, the whole point of this blog is to explain, that one day, I'm going to have to claen off the top of my desk, so my little shop has a place to live.

Some things for The Pink Bedroom

I figured my room was going to need some storage, so I made these. The shoeboxes I got from a pattern, and the long boxes will go under the bed, I made with my own pattern. I even made a square box, but don't know what's going to live there yet. Do you see the big art supply box, I opened it so you could see all the supplies in there.

I love these......I found this printie online, and I love it! Every big girl's bedroom needs a Victoria Secret's bag, right? And Jungle Undies?? (Google Jungle undies and/or mishellyzoo to find them)

Oh, and I repainted the bedroom a much lighter pink, and painted the ceiling white. I think it looks better. I'm still thinking I should paint the trim white, too.......time will tell.

And of course.....the teddy bears I made out of polymer clay. Ok, I know, they are not ALL bears, but you get the idea. The pink ones will go in the bedroom; I've got to take a better picture of the bunny, she's hiding in the back. The brown ones got burnt in the toaster over~ but everyone said it adds character.

And the material I bought to redo the bed. I'd really like to either make a quilt or pay someone to do it for me. Me and the sewing machine bump heads, and I'd really love a patchwork quilt!! It's one of those things I know I can do, but really don't want to, ya know??

My Birthday!!

My family donated to a 'birthday fund' this year, so I was able to pick out my own gifts. I found a dollhouse store in Norfolk, Virginia called Bits and Pieces of Ghent; and my daughter and I went shopping. I bought this tea set at 50% off ~all because it's missing it's ladel!?!? It has tiny little pink flowers on every piece.

OK, I make flowers for my cakes, but I have nothing on these......I am going to have to study!! All of these will go in the shop I'm building.

Then I found this cute little bench and thought they'd make a cute chair for my Polymer clay bears. But, then............ we went out to dinner, and my daughter and her friend found these Carebears in the............Gees, the things you put a quater in and turn the dial and get a toy~ like a gum ball machine~ ANYONE KNOW WHAT THEY"RE CALLED? LMAO!!!! OK, after we ran out of quaters~ I realized that there was miniature Disney Princesses, and miniature Strawberry Short Cake dolls.....Oh My~ Do I see a miniature toy store in my future????

The rest of my money was spent on ordering more furniture for the house, and on food from a miniature artist....I will share pictures when everything arrives in the mail.

Bagels and Donuts

My favorite!! Bagels, loaded down with cream cheese!! And an apple, what a good start to the day?!?!

And you can't forget a donut or two! There's several to choose from....

Oh!......... yea!....Silly me, you can't eat any of these, they're all made out of polymer clay. They sure will look cute in the dollhouse, though! The bottom picture shows all the 'treats' I made today.

The Attic

My carpenter cut out my roof this weekend. Then, he thought, for only a minute though, that this was his house, and it took me a minute to convince him otherwise. I so need to buy him his own house, then maybe I can keep him out of mine! But, I'm so happy to have the help!!

The top has been glued and in the process of being attached to the house.

Just a sneak peak of whats to come.

Here, I have applied plaster to the wall....And painted it a horrible pink~ Yes, I gotta find a better pink...needs to be much lighter. The upstairs probally could of used a window or two...Oh, well......mabye next time.
