Have you ever painted a Rhino's Butt?

No? What do you mean No?! LOL... You can blame it on Casey if you'd like... If I hadn't of seen the bottle of Gesso on her blog, I wouldn't of had to take mine out! So.... I've been squirreling away all these plastic animals for a long time now so I could one day paint them.... I want to turn them into rocks, statues and pieces of art! Here they are getting their first coat of Gesso.
So... the elephant and the rhino became bronze statues... I still have to work on that paint job:)

And then I got thirsty for more. So I pulled out my son's (which was once mine- about 25 years ago) farm set.... and 'borrowed' a few of those. Cause who doesn't need a purple pig or a pink cow on their dresser?? You'll have to wait till I get them painted and in place to see what I mean:) Then today I ran into the thrift store to see of I could find any more animals.... and I found 1 woolly mammoth.... and he's getting a coat of pink, too!

I also found a bag of porcelain ducks..... Thought they'd be cute turned into stone....

....but also debating if I want to paint them a solid. Oh, who knows what I'll do???
I do know I need some patience! I had no desire to watch paint dry!!

Oh... and I got the Last of the birdhouses listed. I don't think I'll be making anymore of this kind any time soon- I have other ideas I want to explore right now :) Like painting plastic animals' butts, LMAO!

....I haven't forgotten the Giveaway! I'm thinking Tuesday will be a good day to post it.....
so you'll have to wait till then:)

Until Next Time....

Katie! I refuse to take the blame for you painting Rhino's butts!LOL I only take blame for Gesso. I am not responsible for what you put it on! I am anxious to see where this is going....I hope that Otis is in hiding. If he holds still long enough, I have visions of him becoming an all white cat!

After I stopped laughing, I thought this is a really great idea Katie! The bronzed ones look good. Not so sure about the pink duck though... LOL

No, can't say I've ever even contemplated painting a rhino's butt! Will be interesting to see what you do with these.

What great ideas you have, Katie! I can imagine the stone animals will be wonderful! I had some of those plastic animals too when I was a child, but I remember we had to thrown them away because some legs were destroyed because someone chew on them... it wasn't me... must have been my little brother ;-)

OMG! I love the painted animals. Your pink duck reminds me of Antonio's (HGTV) pink/fuchsia flying geese. This will be interesting to see how they turn out. =)

I have painted many butts but not rhinos' :).

I think using these plastic animals as stone sculptures is a great idea. They are very cheap but not in the right scale. So this is a good use for them! Quickly finish them and show us, Katie. :):) I am impatient to see more ;p

*snicker* Actually, I found some animal beads not too long ago and intend to paint a few rhino butts for my mini garden. Can't wait to see how your turn out. I thought about using some green scenic fluff to give them a mossy look (English type garden), but paint may work nicely too. I'll have to play and see!
